If you’re looking for something inexpensive to do in Iceland, walk along the waterfront of downtown Reykjavik. You’ll pass lots of local sculpture and art as well as get an unimpeded view of the beautiful snowy mountains set as a backdrop to the clear blue waters of the harbor. You might catch a few boats sailing by bringing in the day’s catch or just coasting along in line with the pace of the clouds.
Along your trek, you’ll also past bicyclists and rollerbladers and people just relaxing to the sights and sounds of downtown. You will also most likely pass the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center.
The Harpa is a music and conference hall along the waterfront of the harbor of downtown Reykjavik, Iceland. It’s an outstanding architectural structure and a spectacular image to take in visually on the outside as well as on the inside.
The multicolored glass facade of the building was inspired by the natural landscape of Iceland in the basalt columns that have been carved by the lava, fire, and ice of Iceland. You may be able to see the real columns all over Iceland. Keep a lookout for the columns when you visit Öxarárfoss waterfall at Þingvellir, journey to Halsanefs Hellir or walk along the shores of Vik.

Be sure to stop by if you’re walking or riding along the harbor walk as it’s free to the public and a great place to take photographs.
